TNG eWallet's New Look: More Than Just Payments | App Redesign & Business Update (2026)

TNG eWallet is undergoing a remarkable transformation, evolving from a simple payment utility to a comprehensive digital companion that Malaysians are increasingly relying on for various aspects of their daily lives. This shift is evident in the company's latest financial update, where over 50% of its revenue now stems from non-payment businesses, indicating a broader adoption of its services beyond just QR payments and Touch 'n Go card reloads.

The company's CEO, Alan Ni, emphasizes this point, stating, 'TNG eWallet is no longer just a payment app. Malaysians are using us to manage different parts of their everyday lives, from growing their money and traveling overseas to paying bills and earning rewards.' This evolution is a testament to the platform's versatility and its ability to cater to a wide range of user needs.

One of the key drivers of this growth is the expansion of services beyond payments. Financial services, travel, remittance, merchant solutions, and advertising are all contributing significantly to the company's revenue. For instance, cross-border, remittance, and international services now account for 10% of the total revenue, a substantial increase from a few years ago when they contributed virtually nothing. Similarly, business-to-business offerings, including advertising, digital infrastructure services, and merchant value-added services, make up 6% of the total revenue.

The company's latest app redesign further underscores this shift. The new homepage is designed with a search-first approach, allowing users to access services and features without navigating through multiple layers of menus. The top bar now features four key shortcuts: GOFinance for financial services, Near Me for discovering nearby food and beverage deals, Bills for utility and recurring bill payments, and Transport for commuting and travel-related services. This streamlined approach aims to make the app more user-friendly and efficient.

TNG Digital's Chief Product and Growth Officer, Chiew Wei Wing, explains the rationale behind the redesign, saying, 'Over the years, TNG eWallet has expanded far beyond payments. The new experience brings our ecosystem together in one place, making everyday services easier to discover and use.' The focus on a seamless user experience is evident in the reorganization of the bottom navigation bar, which prioritizes frequently used features for easier one-handed operation.

Looking ahead, TNG Digital believes that the next phase of its evolution will be shaped by how seamlessly financial services, commerce, travel, and lifestyle experiences come together in a single ecosystem. The company's ambition is to become an everyday digital companion that simplifies Malaysians' lives, making it an exciting prospect for users and investors alike.
